Georgia DNR receives new tracking tool

BRYAN COUNTY, GA (WTOC) -The Georgia Department Of Natural Resources has a new tool, courtesy of a donation.

James Yount of Bryan County donated a Garmin Alpha K-9 Tracking collar to the DNR. The GPS system will aid in searches and make sure the K-9s don’t get lost in the process.

“We’ll have the ability to give a device to deputies setting up a perimeter and they’ll be able to track every move I make in the woods with my dog," said If a suspect is headed towards a road, they’ll now that’s the direction we’re headed and can cut off the suspect.”

The device will also come in handy when searching for alzheimer’s patients and lost children.
