SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Music teacher Heather Moore is trying to get her 1st graders at Jacob G. Smith Elementary in Savannah on the same beat.
“Music is a gift we can give our kids, that's something we can help them learn to express themselves, to become more human and to show emotion, and I love to be able to help them learn about that part of themselves,” Moore said.
She says music is all about the process and loves hearing these little voices grow.
“It's super fun, it's so much fun and I tell the children it will always be a part of their life,” Moore said. “I'm just encouraging them, it starts when they are little, helping them to learn and have a love for music. We do that by singing and moving by playing instruments, making it very child friendly and active because that’s how they really learn.”
She says she's always loved music from an early age growing up in Savannah, and knew she wanted to be a music teacher.
“I feel called to my profession, so I feel like God put me in this place to do this job. that's my motivator and drive and having a chance to love on these kids every day,” Moore said.
Moore has been teaching for ten years and ready for more.
“It’s super fun, it’s so much fun and I tell the children it will always be a part of their life,” Moore said. “I have the best job in the school, I get to make music with children all day long, so it doesn’t get much better than that.”
