Two crashes with serious injuries occur on Saturday

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Two crashes that resulted in serious injuries happened on Saturday in Savannah.

Just after noon, officers responded to a wreck on Montgomery Crossroads at the intersection of Indigo Drive. Traffic investigators believe that a Toyota Avalon driven by Audrey Scott, 65, attempted to turn left on Indigo road at the same time William Chancey, 58, was traveling eastbound on Montogomery Crossroads on a motorcycle.

Chancey laid own his bike in an attempt to not hit the Toyota. This action resulted in serious injuries for Chancey. More details of the wreck remain under investigation

Later in the day, at around 7:30 PM, officeres responded to a vehicle veresus bicycle at Montgomery and 50th streets. According to the Traffic Investigation Unit, two bicyclists were attempting to enter the northbound lane of Montgomery Street at the same time a Ford F-150 driven by Benjamin Wilson, 73, was traveling north in the left lane of Montgomery Street.

Wilson attempted to avoid the first bicyclist but never saw the second one. The truck struck the bicycle and the crash resulted in serious injuries to the bicyclist Ruixuan Pu, 22, of Savannah.

Those injured were transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
