SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - As part of an effort to revitalize neighborhoods in Savannah, city leaders unveiled three new signs on Wednesday.
The brick signs now welcome people to the Edgemere-Sackville and Parkwood neighborhoods. The city says the signs promote a sense of pride and identity for the communities. Neighbors we spoke to agree.
“It took us a long time to get it, but we always thought if the sign in front of your place looks run down, everybody assumes the rest of the neighborhood is not any good either, so it is good to have a good welcoming sign and for all the houses and most of my neighbors, they try to keep their property up, and that is the goal,” said Florence Carter, Parkwood Neighborhood Association, President.
The construction of all three signs cost over $20,000 and were paid for with SPLOST funds.
