BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WTOC) - Members of the Beaufort County School Board voted Wednesday night to get legal counsel regarding the closing of a school.

“The closure, I believe to be illegal, because it was carried out by the school district superintendent without the knowledge of the board,” said Beaufort County parent, Amanda Walrad.
“As district administration went about the closure of Islands Academy, we quite simply followed the instructions we received from the South Carolina Department of Education,” said Jim Foster, Beaufort County School District.
