SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Telfair Museums Jepson Center has a new installation making its debut on Thursday night.
Savannah-based artist Katherine Sandoz commissioned ‘Katniss,' a constellation of abstract art which is now hanging in the Jepson Center Atrium. This piece consists of over 100 colorful acrylic shapes from 19 points in the ceiling. She also created a site specific painting which is on display on the third floor landing.
We caught up with the artist, who graduated and taught at SCAD, to learn a little bit more about her inspiration.
“I think there’s a great collaborative spirit in the city. A piece like this really brings together the beauty of our landscape, the people who live and work here, and the building,” Sandoz said.
These two pieces of art are on display at the Jepson Center right now, and will be throughout June.
