RINCON, GA (WTOC) - A shakeup at the Rincon Police Department has lead to the dismissal of the once interim chief of the department.
Lt. Jose Ramirez was named interim chief in July of last year until current Chief Mark Gerbino was hired in October.
A release from the police department says the immediate termination Wednesday happened following an internal investigation.
That investigation found Ramirez violated employment standards of the City of Rincon, set forth in the City’s Personnel Policy Manual, and the police department’s standard operating procedures.
No other details were given as to how policies were allegedly violated or when. Ramirez has 10 days from his termination to file an appeal, and if he does, according to the department, his personnel file will be available through the Freedom of Information Act.
Stepping into Ramirez’ position and assuming the duties of Operations Commander will be newly appointed Interim Lieutenant Jonathon Murrell.
Rincon’s Police Chief describes Lieutenant Murrell as a man who “lives and breathes integrity and has an unshakable moral compass.”
Again, Ramirez has 10 days to appeal from termination date. The city does not want to comment until that appeal deadline passes.
