SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong campus is hosting a special performance Thursday night. It’s part of their Piano in the Arts concert series.
The series is held throughout the school year. The performances feature different artists from around the world, and is open to both students and the public.
Thursday night’s 7:30 performance in the Fine Arts Hall is the third one of the series. It will feature Daniel Schene, a pianist from Indiana who plays a variety of classical and contemporary music. Each performer hosts a master class the day after their performance. The class is open to anyone for no charge.
The director of the concert series says even if you have no musical background or training, you should gain something from the class.
“What you will learn about is what different things go into becoming a pianist, and the teacher will explain it in such a way that even if you don’t play piano, you will begin to gain an appreciation for what we as pianist do every day," said Benjamin Warsaw, Director of Piano in the Arts.
The master class will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Fine Arts Hall.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for military and seniors, and free for students. Click here for more information.
