SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department is asking for your support as they release a “Most Wanted” list each week.
The list will be a weekly Top 10 Most Wanted list. The department is trying to get the community’s help locating the agency’s most profound offenders.
The flyer will be updated on the Savannah Police Department’s website and social media accounts each Wednesday. It will show photos of the 10 most wanted subjects and the charge(s) they are wanted for.
The department will post all the information along with a section for the public to search for sex offenders on a new page on their website.
Savannah Police Chief Roy Minter started the initiative.
“We believe this will be a great resource for our community members and will hopefully result in some voluntary surrenders of these subjects. The community has been asking ‘how can we help?’ Help us by calling in tips about the subjects as well as tips about what you are seeing around the city," said Police Chief, Roy Minter.
“His weekly list is just part of that initiative,” said Lt. Torrance Garvin, SPD. “So the goal for the weekly is to make the community aware of wanted individuals that are probably walking around in their community that they may not be aware of, so that they can give us a call and we can receive that information through the tip line, and once we receive that information, we send officers out.”
It’s been less than 24 hours since the department started the list, and they’ve already caught one of the suspects in the first Top 10.
