SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It was not a great night to be a region tournament top seed Thursday night.

Both the Johnson and Savannah Country Day boys saw their region title runs abruptly end at the hands of crosstown rivals Thursday.

For the Atom Smashers, it was Beach who did the deed. The Bulldogs handed Johnson their first region loss of the year, 71-64. For the Hornets, Savannah Christian avenged a pair of losses earlier in the season with a 39-33 victory. The win keeps the Hornets’ 49-year region title drought intact.
