Annual charity walk raises $31,000 for low income, homeless children

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -Hundreds of people walked through downtown Savannah on Saturday to show their love for a non-profit helping thousands in our community.

Wesley Community Centers of Savannah holds the Love Walk every year. Their executive director says is critical to supporting programs that serve 4,000 people in the Savannah area each year.

“This is so very important," said executive director Tammy A.K. Mixon-Calderon. "This is our annual fundriaser so that we can continue to provide the good quality services for people who have the most need.”

For more than 69 years, the center's provided child care for low income and homeless children in Savannah, and support services for women, children and families.

This year’s walk raised more than $31,000.
