SPRINGFIELD, GA (WTOC) - A suspect has been arrested and charged with making school threats in Effingham County.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to Effingham High School on Jan. 15 in response to a threat made against students. The threat was made on social media, using a bogus account.
Investigators worked diligently to determine who was behind the threats. They say this very serious matter has become a joke to students and will often result in copycat threats in the same week. In addition, the havoc it causes for law enforcement and parents is inexcusable.
The Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Darious Devantez Goldwire has been arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts, which is a felony. He was arrested Monday evening and transported to the Effingham County Jail.
