New half-marathon, 5K coming to Savannah this weekend

New race in Savannah this weekend

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -A new race is making its way to Savannah for the first time on Saturday.

The “Best Damn Race” is a running series created for runners by runners.

The series features races throughout Florida and Louisiana.

The race will close some roads around Forsyth and Daffin Parks, however the roads will re-open after the half marathon and 5K are done.

Mike Nadeau with Fleet Feet says there are a lot of runs in Savannah but this one has more to offer than many.

"They wanted to come into Savannah because it is such a great destination,” Mike Nadeau said. “They do travel well and what their claim to fame is they have a great after party which will be in the Forsyth Park area,” Nadeau said. “They have a lot of events going on afterwards, so get out there, get your run on, get your calories burnt off and get them put back in with a great hamburger or anything like that,” he said.

Packet pick-up for the race will be held Friday.
