Savannah runners participate in their first ever BDR

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -Thousands of runners gathered in downtown Savannah on Saturday for the “Best Damn Race.”

Organizers say what makes the 5-K and Half Marathon the "best" is the unlimited food, drinks, and medals given to runners. Around 1400 people attended this year's race which ended with a celebration in Forsyth Park.

"Unlimited food, unlimited drinks, so we try to incorporate all of the great elements of races throughout the country into our races," Race Director Nick Zivolich said.

This was the first time organizers held the run in Savannah. Linda and Yvonne Frazier are cousins who have ran in various races. They said they enjoyed this one.

"Awesome. They picked a great route. For their first time in Savannah it was an awesome route," the cousins said.

Organizers say Saturday morning’s race brought in around 900 runners from out of town. They plan to do it again next year.
