STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Georgia Southern’s first home game of 2019 is not one Eagle fans will enjoy remembering.
The Eagles fell to 1-3 on the year after a 5-1 loss to West Virginia in the weekend series opener.
Mountaineer starter Alek Manoah made it tough on the Georgia Southern batters, allowing no earned runs on two hits in 6.1 IP. Sam Kessler earned the save for WVU. The Mountaineers closed it out with Sam Kessler earning the save. Kessler allowed three hits in 2.2 scoreless innings.
Seth Shuman started on the hill for Southern. The junior allowed just one run in six scoreless innings, but took the loss.
The two teams will close out the three-game series Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00.
