U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer facing child molestation charges

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A local U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer is facing charges for sexually assaulting a child.

Anthony King was booked into the Bryan County Jail last week.

He’s facing charges of child molestation, sexual battery against a child under 16, and aggravated sexual battery.

WTOC has also received confirmation that King served as a volunteer in the children’s ministry at Compassion Christian Church in Savannah.

The senior pastor says none of the crimes King was arrested for happened at the church, and released the following statement:

“We are in the process of making not just parents, but our entire church family aware of this sad situation, while also asking for prayer for the individual and the family involved, and we have a very stringent child protection policy that we honor at Compassion Christian to insure that our church is a safe place for every child." -Senior Pastor, Compassion Christ Church Savannah.
