First Tee of the Lowcountry has special day at RBC Heritage

Wednesday on Hilton Head Island, the Pro-Am tournament for the RBC Heritage took place.

First Tee visits RBC Heritage

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC. (WTOC)- Wednesday on Hilton Head Island, the Pro-Am tournament for the RBC Heritage took place. The kids from The First Tee of the Lowcountry got a special day and some great seats.

The First Tee is a National Charitable Organization that offers golf lessons and teaches the ethics and etiquette of golf. They are located on the campus of the Boys and Girls Club of Hilton Head. They are driven mostly by volunteers and get instruction and information on the game of golf.

The Cypress of Hilton Head, a continuing care retirement community in Hilton Head Plantation, has occupied the sky-box on the 13th green since 2007. The Cypress Today, they allowed the kids to use the seats for an experience they’ll never forget.

The Cypress offered the seats to the First Tee, so the youth have an opportunity to experience golf in real-time. They get to ask for autographs and meet the pros and transportation and food were provided.

“So today we’re just taking some kids out and getting some autographs from some golfers and just having a good time," said Tessa Charest, a student. "It’s fun. It’s definitely a good opportunity. It teaches the kids about golf and outside curriculum’s you can do and just mainly like, respect and how golf etiquette is.”

Some of the most coveted autographs were from Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth.

The RBC Heritage Golf Tournament begins on Thursday morning.
