SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - There's nothing unusual about seeing a motorcycle on the road, and the overwhelming number of riders are men, but that is changing.
Harley Davidson is joining in the effort to get more women interested in getting their own hog and hitting the open highway. They are doing this by inviting women to a women only garage party. These ladies want to ride, but before they do, they're going through the some courses. They are learning everything they need to know, from how to pick a bike, to what to do if it should fall over on them.
"Confidence is a big thing. They're afraid of the traffic out there, afraid of a 500 pound motorcycle. I've also seen women who are 4' 9" riding an 800 pound motorcycle, but they are confident and have the skill level to pull it off," said Kim Flenard.
Harley davidson plans to host at least 2 more this year. You can call the store to find out when the others will be held.
