FT. STEWART, GA (WTOC) - Those that live near Ft. Stewart may have heard blasts early Thursday morning.

The First Heavy Brigade Combat Team conducted a "Fire Coordination Exercise".

Amoung those that participated in the battlefield simulation were 120mm mortars, 155mm Paladins, Apache attack helicopters, a B-52 bomber and a Shadow UAV.

"It's important to keep our skills fresh in the conflict we're in now," said Maj. Rob Santamaria. "It's important to keep our skills in what we don't get to train in often or we will loose them."

The exercise provided soldiers with realistic training in conducting wartime missions.
