Military convoy diesel fuel spill

From Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort:

MCAS BEAUFORT, (December 2, 2009) - A pressure valve on a military fuel tanker as part of a convoy leaked some diesel fuel along a route from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort to Hardeeville SC. 

The convoy has been stopped and notified of the spill.  Initial estimates indicate no negative impact to the environment as the spill was contained to the paved road surfaces. 

The convoy was traveling to Ft. Stewart in Savannah GA for a-one week training
exercise.

Military and civilian hazardous material response teams have responded and are currently conducting cleaning operations in the affected areas.
