Fire rips through a Bloomingdale home

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - Firefighters spent the early morning hours Monday battling flames at a home near the Effingham-Chatham county line.

Effingham County firefighters responded to East Deerfield Ave at around 4:15am where a single story house was fully engulfed in flames.

One man was inside the house when it went up in flames. He was able to get out and call 911 from a neighbor's home.

Hydrants were located too far from the house so firefighters had to use a pump truck to douse the flames.

The house is a total loss.
