SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - For one man at the Wilmington Island landfill, during the holiday season, he doesn't have to go for for Christmas decorations.
"People have been throwing them away, they keep buying new decorations and getting ready for the holidays," said landfill attendent Richard Garcia.
So instead of letting the Christmas ornaments, bows, wreaths and ribbon go to waste, Garcia decided the dump shack also needed a little holiday cheer.
"A lot of people have have said very positive things," said Garcia. "It makes them cheerful, its christmas spirit, that whole bit."
But all the forgotten bows blowing in the breeze and the forgotten figurines nestled under a tossed out tree really shouldn't be here says Garcia.
"I think there should be a place where they could bring this like church parishes where people who have no money and can't afford decorations," Garcia explained. "Where they can do their house or home like we did the shed and make it a happier place for kids for Christmas and lift everyone's spirits who may be a little 'down in the dumps'."
