SPRINGFIELD, GA (WTOC) - There are new developments in a murder case that shocked Effingham County.

One man is already in jail charged with killing two members of the Heidt family back in 2008 and now authorities have made another arrest.

Investigators arrested the widow of murder victim Carey Heidt. Deputies say 35-year-old Robin Heidt was taken into custody Tuesday night at her Effingham County Home.

Around 5:30pm Tuesday, Effingham County investigators and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Robin Heidt for threatening a witness in the case.

Philip and Linda Heidt and their adult son Carey Heidt were shot in their home on Springfield-Egypt Road in August of 2008.

Linda survived but Carey and Philip were both killed.

Phillip and Linda's other son Craig Heidt, was arrested in May 2009 in the deaths of his father and his brother. He's also charged with shooting and injuring his mother.

He is still in jail awaiting trial.

Because a gag order was issued for the case on January 22 by an Effingham County Superior Court Judge, little is known about Robin Heidt's arrest.

Deputies say she is charged with threatening a witness in the case but won't say who that witness is or anything about the threats.

The trial date has not yet been set. Robin Heidt was denied bond.
