St. Patrick's Day parking and shuttle information

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - If you're planning on heading to downtown Savannah for the Saint Patrick's Day parade and celebration on Wednesday, there's important parking and transportation information you need to know.

See below for a list of shuttle services, times, garage parking prices and more from the City of Savannah:

Shuttle Service

Chatham Area Transit will operating a shuttle service on Wednesday, March 17 from three locations.

For $3, passengers will get a roundtrip ticket to and from the parade in downtown Savannah. Please bring exact change if possible.

Passes can also be purchased in advance at CAT's main office at 900 East Gwinnett Street or CAT Central at 124 Bull Street.

From 9am to 11am, CAT will provide a round-trip shuttle service to the parade. Shuttles will be leaving from:

  • Westside at the Westside Shopping Center on Hwy 80 in Garden City,
  • Eastside at the Island Towne Centre on Whitemarsh Island and
  • Southside at the Savannah Mall near the carousel in the rear.

Parade goers can park at these locations and ride the shuttles into downtown Savannah.

Return trips from downtown Savannah will go from 12pm to 3pm.

  • The Eastside Shuttle will be dropped off and picked up downtown at Oglethorpe and Houston Streets. It will return to the Island Towne Centre.
  • The Westside and Southside shuttles will be dropped off and picked up at the Visitors' Center at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
  • The Westside Shuttle will return to the Westside Shopping Center and the Southside Shuttle will return to the Savannah Mall.

After 3pm, you can return to the three shuttle locations on the CAT's fixed routes

  • The 3A and 3B routes will return within a block of the Westside Shopping Center. It will require a short walk.
  • The 10 East Savannah and 24 Savannah State/Wilmington Island routes will return to the Island Towne Centre.
  • The 14 Abercorn will return to the Savannah Mall.

Cab stands can be found at East Broad and Bay and MLK and Bay.

Parking Garages

There is a flat rate special event fee for all parking garages. The Whitaker Street garage is $15 and all others are $10.

Drivers with monthly passes are guaranteed parking spaces until 8am on Wednesday.

March 16: 5 a.m. until 1 a.m.
March 17: 5 a.m. until 5 a.m.

At the State and Liberty Street garages, drivers will only be able to get their cars between 1am and 5am on Wednesday. Vehicle entry to these garages will not be allowed during that time.

Visitor Center Lot

Parking will be available starting at 6am Wednesday. Parking fee is $10.

On-street Parking

There is no parking allowed on the parade route or in the parade marshalling areas. Starting at 6am Wednesday, vehicles parked in prohibited zones will be towed.

Available on-street, metered parking will be free all day on March 17.

Savannah International Trade & Convention Center

Parking will be available from 7am to 3pm on March 17 for $10 which includes a round trip water ferry service.

The ferry will run until midnight but cars will not be allowed in to park after 3pm.

River Street and Ramp Closures

Access to River Street will be restricted for vehicles during the following dates and times:

  • Friday, March 12 starting at 5pm
  • Saturday, March 13 starting at noon
  • Sunday, March 14 starting at 2pm
  • Monday, March 15: Open
  • Tuesday, March 16 starting at 2pm
  • Wednesday, March 17 starting at 6am
