SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A delay in the Craig Heidt murder case. On Wednesday, an Effingham County judge postponed the trial.

Craig Heidt walked into court wearing a dress shirt and dress pants. He was allowed to change out of the typical jail jumpsuit because our WTOC camera was there.

Heidt is accused of murdering his father Phillip and brother Carey in their Springfield home back in August, 2008. Craig is also accused of shooting his mother Linda in the face.

Linda was also in court Wednesday. Court officials say she has been at almost every one of these hearings.

Jury selection was set to begin in less than three weeks on May 17.

The judge postponed the trial after Heidt's attorney asked for a leave of absence for the month of May. He told the judge he has to care for his elderly mother while she undergoes chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Until the judge sets a new trial date, Craig Heidt will be spending his days in the Effingham County Jail.
