Craig Heidt's murder trial is delayed

Posted: Updated:

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The murder trial for Craig Heidt has been delayed.

Heidt is accused of murdering his father, Phillip, and Carey Heidt in their Springfield home in August 2008. He's also accused of shooting his mother Linda Heidt in the face.

This all comes about after a material witness was found dead last week at the home of Carey's wife, Robin Heidt. That witness was her brother John Henry Rast. His death has been ruled a suicide.

There was a motion of continuance filed by the state and it was granted. No new trial date was set.

In June an appeal in the case against Heidt was not upheld by the Georgia Supreme Court.

Prior to the state's motion being granted, jury selection was supposed to start on Sept. 27.
