SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - In just a few days children will be decked out in their favorite Halloween costumes, but for parents like Cheryl Bland she still uncertain which day her kids will go Trick-or-Treating in Chatham County. That's because she, like many parents, has been waiting on the county to make a decision.
"It's kind of late you know. The children have already made plans maybe their parents are taking them Sunday and really it's Saturday and it's getting confusing. I think a decision needs to be made whether it's Saturday or Sunday just let the community know," said Bland.
She says personally she would like Saturday but she knows several have already made plans for Sunday.
"Some of the neighborhoods have decided to do it on Saturday and some decided to do it on Sunday so it's kinda mixed,"said Bland.
Lisa Jennings is the Children's Director at Calvary Baptist in Savannah and she says they would prefer Saturday.
"We would prefer it not to be on Sunday because it is the lords day," said Jennings.
Jennings says at Calvary they will host a Halloween festival called Light the Night; so, no matter what the County decides on Wednesday, children can come and trunk-or-treat for free.
"The kids walk around the track of the football field and get candy for everyone who has their truck decorated," said Jennings.
So regardless which day the County decides will be the official Trick-or-Treating day, Jennings says there are plenty of events so children can still get all dressed up in their favorite costume and celebrate Halloween.
Calvary Light the Night event will be Wednesday at Calvary's football field from 6 p.m. untill 8 p. m. It is open to the public.
The Chatham County Commission designated Saturday, October 30 as the official date for Trick-or-Treat.
