SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A teenager is clinging to life after what is turning into a complicated shooting case.

Terry Burrus says he was walking his brother home from Uptown Nightclub when someone started shooting at them Thursday morning.

Police say Burrus shot back and hit 16-year-old Michael Johnson in the head.

Police say Burrus called 911 right away and waited until police arrived.

He did have a carry to conceal permit and he told WTOC he is very upset about what happened but he had no other choice.

The victim Michael Johnson is at Memorial Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

The owner of Uptown Nightclub Victor Shawn told WTOC he can't confirm whether the teens were ever there, but he says he can't always control what teens do after they leave his club.

In June of 2008, 18-year-old Dontrell Singleton was murdered after his mother says he left Uptown Teen Club.

City leaders have said in the past that the club needs to take more responsibility.

The owner says he hires off duty police officers as security and does everything he can to keep the teen club safe.
