CLAXTON, Ga. (WTOC) - She's been tabbed as one of those "God-gifted athletes."
Claxton junior Shameekia "Polly" Murray has proven to be a consistent force for the Lady Tigers all season. In the past week, Murray totaled 35 points, 30 rebounds, and 13 assists in wins over Metter and Southeast Bulloch.
"She's so humble about everything," said Lady Tiger head coach Laura Aziz. "The other night we left her in and she probably could've scored 10 or 15 more points in the 4th quarter and all she was worried about was trying to get it to some of the kids that hadn't scored this year."
Says Murray, "I just like to share."
The junior is back to familiar form, after overcoming ACL surgery in her freshman season.
"Most kids maybe would've gotten down but she stuck around with the team, had the surgery, she worked super hard in the weight room and she bounced back," Aziz said.
Claxton will face Treutlen County as a 4-seed in the region tournament Tuesday.
