Historic foundation needs votes for grant

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Historic Savannah Foundation has been selected as one of 100 finalists for This Place Matters grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The "This Place Matters" campaign launched Tuesday at the W.W. Foundation. The public can vote online during the month of June to support the "This Place Matters" community challenge. The three participating organizations that get the most votes will win a prize of $25,000, $10,000 or $5,000 to benefit their community.

"We put this forth that the W.W. Law House matters so we're trying to win this contest and win some money and spend it on rehabing the home," said Daniel Carey, of the Savannah Historic Foundation.

Historic Savannah Foundation has committed to give half of their winnings to the W.W. Law House, located in the Cuyler-Brownville Historic District, for its stabilization and preservation.
