SWAINSBORO, Ga. (AP) - An east-Georgia couple has been arrested after a 4-month-old girl in their care died. Emanuel County Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens says investigators determined that Robert Benton and Melissa Fullmore had used methamphetamine Tuesday morning and found the girl unresponsive when they woke up. The girl was later pronounced dead.

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (AP) - Airmen and civilian workers at Robins Air Force Base are remembering co-workers who have died in the past year. The middle Georgia military base was holding its annual memorial ceremony today, just ahead of the Memorial Day weekend, at Camellia Gardens.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - The Georgia Department of Agriculture has extended a quarantine period for the Savannah-Chatham animal control shelter after another dog was found with an upper respiratory illness. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police spokesman Julian Miller says the initial quarantine would have expired yesterday if a new case hadn't been discovered.

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a man who was training for a job in the DeKalb County detention center has died during a training exercise. George Ward began showing signs of illness during a fitness training session yesterday and was taken to the DeKalb Medical Center, where he later died.
