CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Al Jefferson scored 26 points and Kemba Walker added 24 as the Charlotte Bobcats won their seventh straight game at home, defeating the Denver Nuggets 105-98 Monday night. Jefferson made 10 of his first 14 field-goal attempts and also had a game-high 12 rebounds.
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Alante Fenner scored 15 points and Terel Hall had 14 as fifth-seeded Savannah State beat 12th seed South Carolina State 64-47 Monday in the first round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Jeremiah Hill added 10 points for Savannah State, while Jyles Smith had eight points, five assists and 13 rebounds.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Karl Cochran scored 23 points, and Wofford beat Western Carolina 56-53 Monday night to capture the Southern Conference championship and a spot in the NCAA tournament. Cochran, the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, was 8 of 16 from the field and had five 3-pointers.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina freshman Sindarius Thornwell says those complaining about Frank Martin's sideline behavior don't understand the coach. He adds the players wouldn't have anyone else leading the Gamecocks. Martin was suspended one game by the school for harsh language aimed at guard Duane Notice in a loss to top-ranked Florida last week.
