CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A person familiar with the situation says Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan is changing his team's name to the Hornets. The person says Jordan will detail the timetable for the change to be completed at a news conference the Bobcats have scheduled for Tuesday.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - NASCAR Nationwide driver Justin Allgaier started the season with a new car, a new crew chief and a relatively new pit crew. The changes haven't led to a victory, but Allgaier is confident that the No. 31 car is set to blossom into a winner in the weeks ahead. Allgaier is currently fourth in the Nationwide standings, just one point behind Elliott Sadler and 43 behind series leader Regan Smith.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Former Arkansas quarterback Brandon Mitchell says he's transferring to North Carolina State to play his final season. Mitchell was granted his release from the Razorbacks earlier this month, following a spring competition for the starting position that ended with the senior listed as the second-team quarterback to sophomore Brandon Allen.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina third baseman Colin Moran is the Atlantic Coast Conference's player of the year and teammate Kent Emanuel is its pitcher of the year. The ACC announced its postseason awards Monday.
