ATLANTA (AP) - Tommy La Stella drove in three runs and Chris Johnson hit a two-run homer to back Alex Wood and help the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-2 Sunday. The Braves have won of five of seven and remained second in the NL East.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - It's been awhile since the Atlantic Coast Conference entered a season with this much buzz. The realigned league has the defending national champion, a Heisman Trophy winner and a national coach of the year.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford says he's confident the NCAA will pass a proposal that will allow the five power conferences to make some of their own rules. Speaking Sunday on the first day of his league's two-day media event, Swofford said he "will be surprised if it doesn't pass."

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Jameis Winston would rather look to the season ahead as the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback for reigning national champion Florida State. He also knows he has to answer questions about his off-field conduct. Winston was investigated for sexual assault during last season. A prosecutor in Tallahassee, Florida, decided in December not to charge him due to a lack of evidence and gaps in the accuser's story.
