The Air Force announced today it will release its findings on the Tybee Island bomb. On June 17, the search team will give its final report on radiation tests conducted eight months ago.
The 7,600-pound nuke was dumped at sea when the bomber carrying it collided with a fighter jet in 1958.
There is no word yet on whether they located the weapon, but the Air Force says the Mark-15 bomb cannot explode because it lacks a plutonium capsule.
In September, scientists took radiation readings and underwater soil samples. Tybee Island mayor Walter Parker said it should not have taken this long to come up with some kind of conclusion.
