The Mighty 11th Hair Force

Thanks to everyone who donated, Mike & Dave have met and surpassed their goal! The Mighty 11th Hair Force collected over $14,000!

Final total: $14,836.69

Our community's generosity is a big win in the fight against childhood cancer. Although, it's a big loss for Mike & Dave, who had their hair shorn on live TV the morning of March 10. As Dave kept saying, "It's all for a good cause."

It’s time to put your money where your mouth is!! On January 5th during First Report, WTOC ran a story about a group of men at a local car dealership that shaved their heads in support of their co-worker who has cancer. Following the story, Mike and Dave thought it was great for these men to show how much they care about their co-worker.

Mike and Dave also said , for the cause, they too, would be willing to go under the razor for a really close military cut, in honor of  our area troops. Since the off-handed comment, WTOC has received numerous phone calls, e-mails and letters asking them to cut their hair for a special cause called “St. Baldrick’s Day .”

St. Baldrick's is a national fund raising event to benefit childhood cancer research. St. Baldrick's is a whimsical twist on St. Patrick's Day - when brave volunteers agree to shave their heads bald to raise funds for childhood cancer research. So, both have agreed to take part in the local event which benefits Backus Children's Hospital. To learn more about St. Baldrick's, please visit www.stbaldricks.org

The team goal is to raise $11,000 . In honor of the rich military history in the Coastal Empire and Low Country we are calling the team “The Mighty 11th Hair Force.” They are listed on the St. Baldricks'website under "The Mighty 11th Hair Force". If they raise the money by March 10th, Mike and Dave will get a nice, clean, military cut live on the air .
