Security Guard Critically Injured in Conflict with Security Guards

A security guard for a Savannah company had to be taken to the hospital after he was shot by two security guards from another company.

Savannah-Chatham police were called to Indigo Point apartments on LaRoche Avenue shortly before 1:30am this morning when they were notified that a suspect had been shot. When they arrived, officers found 40-year-old Herman Riley wounded from several gunshots, sitting in a red pickup belonging to Security Experts Company.

Police say, apartment security guards Warren Ellis and Jason Riley of State Security Services opened fire when the driver of the pickup tried to run them over after hitting their vehicle.

Herman Riley was taken to Memorial Health where he was last listed in critical condition.

He was on duty and was supposed to be patrolling Bonaventure Cemetery. Detectives are still trying to find out what he was doing at the apartments.
