President Bush Expected To Visit Statesboro

President Bush is getting ready to make another stop in the Coastal Empire, this time in Statesboro.

"It's absolutely wonderful," said, Statesboro resident, Mary Ann Lisenbee.  Lisenbee said she had a chance to see George Bush Senior in Washington D.C. and now she gets to see George W. Bush.  "I'm very proud he's in office and I am proud he's our President," said Lisenbee.

And she's not alone.  12-year-old Jimmy Martin is just as excited.  "I can't wait!" said Martin.

President Bush's visit is definitely the hot topic around town.  Georgia Southern University Student John Day said, "I think it's pretty cool.  I haven't seen anything this big down here."

Day said it's not just Bush supporters that are talking about the President's visit.  "There's a lot of controversy here about Bush, is he good or bad, but so far everyone is pretty thrilled about it, whether you are a liberal or conservative," said, Day.

The President is coming to Statesboro to rally support former Republican Congressman Max Burns. Burns is trying to win back the seat he lost to John Barrow two years ago.  However, not everyone will hear him: the event is sold out.  Day said, "I wanted to go, but I think I heard about it too late."

Even though tickets are gone, some are just hoping to get the chance to see the commander in chief in person. GSU student Jeremy Rosser said, "I would be blown away knowing I saw the President. I've never seen the president before."

The President is expected to arrive in Savannah Monday before heading to Statesboro.
