A former NFL star is taking his talents from the playing field to the mission field. Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Joe Jackson spoke to men in Savannah this morning about believing God's dream for their lives. It was part of Savannah Christian Church and Saint John's Baptist Church's city-wide men's breakfast to promote racial unity. The two churches say they're coming together to fight the barriers that divide people in Savannah.
Jackson said he's encouraged by what he's seeing. "It's great to see different churches start to bridge -- not only different churches -- but blacks and whites," he said. "I know the South has been traditionally slow advocating unity and to see that, I mean, these guys are hungry to build the Body and I'm encouraged about that."
Jackson said he became a Christian when he was 18. He played professional football for eight years for the Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets. He now preaches around the country.
