HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - A break for investigators searching for a couple missing from Hilton Head Island, but it wasn't what they were hoping for. No one has seen John and Elizabeth Calvert since Monday night at Harbour Town. See Couple's Disappearance "Highly Uncharacteristic" Say Friends.

Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies found their missing car on the island early this morning, but still no sign of the couple. Their friends and employees are growing more concerned each day.

"We're hanging in there," said Mike Henry. "We're still hoping for a good outcome from this." Henry, the general manager for the Calvert's properties at Harbour Town, is having a hard time holding on to hope.

"We're just trying to keep the good situations and scenarios in mind, but as time goes on, it gets harder and harder to do that," he said.

Investigators found the Calvert's missing Mercedes Benz at a parking lot at Palmetto Dunes Resort area, but the Calverts were not inside and police found no evidence indicating what happened to them.

While the Calverts' friends pray the couple turns up safely, the investigation is back to square one. The FBI and South Carolina Law Enforcement officials have now joined the search.  Still, no one has seen John or Elizabeth Calvert since Monday night and their voicemails have gone unanswered.

On Thursday, deputies searched the couple's yacht where they live while on the island as well as the marina dock.

A dive team had been scheduled to dive the marina today, but that's been delayed due to severe weather. Any break in the weather could provide a much needed break for divers looking to continue their investigation, something the Calverts' friends are all eager to see happen.

But it's difficult to stay positive when even the weather is not cooperating.

"It's been too long. These are people who on a daily basis, I'm the GM with Harbour Town Resorts and I've got constant daily phone calls from Liz and John," said Henry. "We're just praying for the best. Hopefully they went on vacation and didn't tell us."

Police have also searched around the couple's home in the Atlanta area.

If you have any information about what happened to John and Elizabeth Calvert, call the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office or your local police.
