SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
He's a legend in the baseball world courtesy of his "shot heard round the world".
He hit the homerun in 1951 that won the National League pennant for the New York Giants over the Brooklyn Dodgers. He's Bobby Thomson.
The three time all star was hanging out in Savannah Saturday signing autographs, taking pictures and talking with his fans at the Critz BMW and Mercedes Benz.
And no matter how many years ago he hit that monster homerun, he'll always have a special place in his fans hearts and the hearts of baseball fans in general.
"It's nice to be remembered for something that was a nice thing for me. I remember that I got kind of lucky too, to come up at the right spot at that moment." says Thomson, "I was fortunate to hit that homerun to beat the Dodgers, it was a rivalry that was just unusual so yea, it's nice to say hello to people and it's nice to be remembered."
