SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Death row inmate Troy Davis is scheduled to die by lethal injection this evening.

Davis is convicted in the 1989 murder of off-duty Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail.

Earlier today, 25 family members and friends visited with Davis at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia.

Davis was offered a last meal, but officials tell us he refused to eat it. If all goes as scheduled, Davis will be offered a sedative at 6pm.

He has requested his attorney and one family member be with him when he dies.

Outside the prison, three bus loads of supporters are expected to rally for Davis in hopes the US Supreme Court will step in and save his life. Reverend Al Sharpton is also in Jackson meeting with Davis' family.

The Georgia Supreme Court has already refused to grant Davis a stay of execution.

Davis is scheduled to be executed at 7pm tonight unless the US Supreme Court grants him that stay at the last minute.
