Free Electronic fingerprinting kits for kids

RIDGELAND, SC (WTOC) - No parent wants to think about their child being lost or kidnapped. But if it happens, Jasper County wants to be ready.

The Sheriff's Office and the Ridgeland Police Department are offering parents free electronic fingerprinting kits for their children. The fingerprints, along with video of the child will be put onto a CD for parents to keep, just in case.

They'll also give parents an ID card with all of the child's information. Information, the Sheriff says is crucial to finding missing children.

"It's going to cut down on a lot of time having it," said Sheriff Gregory Jenkins. " Naturally parents are in hysterics when that happens and that's just going to be a relief to this agency, knowing we have that information ready on file."

You can get your child's fingerprinting kits and photographs tomorrow at D & R Auto Brokers in Ridgeland from 9am until 1pm, free of charge. They'll also have free hot dogs and drinks.
