STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Hawks, falcons, and other predatory birds at Georgia Southern's Wildlife Center got their annual checkups today.
Students and professors from the University of Georgia's Veterinary School sedated the birds and examined them from head to toe. Professors said the students got as much from the annual visit as the birds did.
"Once they get into veterinary practice, they may not see many red-tailed hawks or barn owls," said UGA professor, Dr. Stephen Hernandez. "They'll see people's pet birds physiology is much the same."
