Charity KeithTeaching is sometimes more about listening. Teenagers can have a lot on their minds. That's why one educator in Richmond Hill says part of her job to teach students about life is letting them talk things out.
Charity Keith is a family consumer science teacher at Richmond Hill High School. Her job is to help teach students about real life and what it takes to raise a family.
"A lot of the students who wanted to be parents before my class say, 'Mrs. Keith, I'm not ready,'" she told us. "That's very meaningful to me, holding off and that understanding of what it's like to be a parent."
Keith says she always wanted to be a teacher, and loves being with students. "The students at Richmond Hill are wonderful. I've been able to do after-school activities, get to know them and be a part of their lives."
Student Lauren Williamson told us, "She's more than just a teacher. She's a friend. I know this year, boyfriends always had a shoulder to cry on, help anyone she can."
Charity Keith, this week's WTOC Top Teacher.
