There's good news for residents and homeowners in Port Wentworth. Chief Gregory Long has announced two new hires for the Port Wentworth Fire Department.
The state-certified firefighters bring the department's paid staff to four firefighters in addition to Chief Long. Port Wentworth FD will now have two firefighters on duty from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.
However, Chief Long reminds the community that volunteers are still a big part of the fire department's operation. Interested parties can contact the Port Wentworth Fire Department at 912.966.7425 or stop by headquarters at 317 Cantyre Street.
