    25 wheelchair athletes from the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital competed in the National Veterans Wheelchair games in Orlando, Florida on the week of August 2. These athletes competed in various sports, ranging from bowling to table tennis to softball to quad rugby, and so much more. One of these athletes won gold with his team, but that is not his only accomplishment since suffering a spinal injury in 2004.

    The Richmond County Coroner says a woman died after being hit in a Walmart parking lot on Friday afternoon. This happened at the store on Bobby Jones Expressway.  The coroner says the truck driver hit Martha Martin in the crosswalk around 4:30 yesterday afternoon.     The National Eating Disorders Association(NEDA) and its national walk sponsor, Aerie, have teamed up to hold the 1st annual Augusta NEDA walk. The walk will take place on November 4 at Lake Olmstead Park. They are hoping to raise awareness for the seriousness of eating disorders, and build a supportive community around it.     The Richmond County school system will release early on August 21. School will let out at 11 a.m. on August 21. Tier 1 dismissal will start at 10:45 a.m., Tier 2 at 11:30 a.m. and Tier 3 at 12:15 p.m. All in-school and after school care will continue as normal, except for those staffed by individual schools.     The South Carolina Attorney General's Office is still prosecuting former state legislator Chris Coley, accused of beating his wife. Even though Chris Corley's wife requested to have the charges dropped, the former Aiken Rep faces a felony aggravated domestic violence charge. He could spend up to 20 years in prison for it.
