SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Superintendent Doctor Thomas Lockamy sent home good news to parents, letting them know he will recommend to the school board to keep Hodge Elementary School open and in the same location for next school year.
Hodge was slated to be demolished to make more room for a new Beach High School as part of the E-SPLOST plan that was approved three years ago.
We caught up with one parent Paris Snead who says parents are cautiously optimistic.
"I really hope and pray they do keep it open because we don't have many schools in this community. Hodge has been around for years and years. I went to Hodge, my mother and father went to Hodge, and hope that they keep it open and the school board votes to keep it open," said Snead.
The next school board meeting is May 6th.
