SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A District 8 Town Hall meeting was held tonight at Beach High School.  It is the first meeting since the board announced their plans to leave Hodge Elementary School open.

All the principals from the eleven schools that comprise District 8 were there to give updates on the schools and answer any questions those in attendance had.

Concerns from the crowd included bullying in schools, the roles of parents in the lives of their children as students, the expansion of Beach High School, and possible locations of Hodge Elementary.

City Councilman Van Johnson was also there, and says he thinks the meetings are very important to the parents and the students.

"I think they are very productive.  I think that ultimately every elected body needs to go out and face the electors.  So this place, this time is convenient for citizens to come out and talk to their school board," he says.

Parents took advantage of their opportunity to talk to the school representatives and the school board members.
