SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -  For the second time in two weeks parents were in front of the Savannah-Chatham Board of Education on Bull Street protesting.

And for the first time, some of them brought their children who are students at Pulaski Elementary School.

Recently the district decided to reassigned Pulaski's principal Joe Thomas to another school, and many are outraged.

"We really want him to stay because he has been there 17 years," said Allie Woods. "He has did so much for Pulaski and we don't have trouble with intruders and any time a parent needs to talk to Mr. Thomas his door is always open."

Thomas is being reassigned to Georgetown Elementary School.

Pulaski's assistant principal Kamal Piankhi will be interim principal for next school year.

Georgetown Elementary's principal, Kimsharian, is moving to Southwest Middle School. But a couple of the parents are fighting to keep the interim principal they have now, Selena Gillian.

Parents of students who attend Southwest Middle School said there have been five principals come and go in the past five years.

Parent Bonnie Ginn said, "We have a principal that is doing really good work for our school and they want to move her. We really need stability, there are too many principals coming and going."

The board of education said the decision to move the principals was based on where the district needs them most.
