SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Teachers around the area are getting some help to fund their "Bright Ideas".
The Coastal Electric Cooperative is giving out over $20,000 in Bright Ideas grants to school teachers in Bryan, Liberty, and McIntosh counties. The winning teachers were caught totally by surprise when the Bright Ideas prize patrol came to their classrooms to present them with the winning honors. The winners say they just wanted to inspire their students to learn.
"My bright idea was to do podcasting in the classroom, and to provide alternative technology in the classroom to inspire our kids to want to learn more," said Kimberly Boucher.
